On January 08, 2022, Former President of the US Barack Obama will deliver a eulogy at the funeral of Erstwhile US Senator Harry Reid. The Smith Center for the Performing Arts location in DTLA will host the funeral, where the senator will be commemorated for his contributions to Nevada and the United States of America.
Reid’s 62-year-old wife Landra stated that the senator died peacefully around his family on December 28, 2021, following a long-time battle with cancer. Reid was aged 82 years at the time. Landra Reid also stated that she takes pride in the legacy that the senator left behind at a national level and in Nevada.
Reid had a career in US Congress that spanned three decades. In this time, he not only served as the majority leader in the US Senate but also helped to pass the so-called Obamacare Act.
Stating that Reid showed more generosity to him than he expected, Obama credited the senator with enabling not only his presidency but also his accomplishments.
In the last few days of Reid’s life, Obama wrote to the senator to talk about the things they had in common. In the letter, Obama stated that he and Reid defied all odds, realized how to address a bad situation, and made for an excellent team. Obama took to Twitter to share his letter to the senator after the latter’s death.
