Governor Candidate John Lee Tries To Persuade Other Republicans

Las Vegas Nevada

North Las Vegas’s Mayor John Jay Lee joined the US Republican Party from his previous Democratic Party a few days ago. Anyhow, Lee, who runs for California’s Governor position, works to assure other Republican Party members that he belongs among them. Lee mentioned a change to socialism among state Democrats as his reason for leaving the party in April this year. He described himself as being pro-life, pro-gun, pro-God, pro-Republican and pro-jobs to hundreds of Nevada’s biggest Republican club members.

Lee told them that he was a Nevada inhabitant even though he was associated with the US Democratic Party. He voted for Republican Donald Trump as the latter ran for President in the last two elections. The Las Vegas-based Nevada Republican Club’s members asked how the party could be guaranteed that Lee would follow the Donald Trump agenda if he becomes the state governor. In response, Lee stated that he is almost an independent person who is monetarily secure enough to be worriless about the future or the job after his tenure as the state governor.

When told to clarify his answer afterwards, Lee said in a recent interview that it means he would act as per his conscience. Lee stated that he is not considering running for things such as Congress or the US President. He also commented that he does not consider the number of votes he would get or lose when making any decision. Instead, he stated that he would arrive at the best possible choice for Nevada.

He mentioned his unhappiness with the US Democratic Party as his reason for voting for Donald Trump five years before. Lee did not fancy the political aspects of the goings-on in the party back in the day. As for him, those were not good things for his North Las Vegas city or southern Nevada, for that matter.

Lee offered no specific details when he was asked which politics or policies made him vote for that Republican Presidential Candidate all those years ago. When he was inquired why he chose not to quit the party back then, Lee commented that he is not interested in party-based politics. Rather, he only votes for the individual; similarly, he expects that others would vote for him in the event they like him.

Lee is the first GOP candidate to disclose his intention to compete in the state’s gubernatorial election next year. Anyhow, the fact that he had developed coronavirus disease overshadowed that piece of news. Lee had not got his coronavirus vaccine dose.

His recent public appearance came more than 2 weeks after his COVID-19 diagnosis. This sexagenarian is also a cancer survivor. So, it may be unsurprising that he was doing fine only a few days after the diagnosis, and that he now feels ‘great’ health-wise.

The vaccine has been accessible to people aged 65 years and above since February 2021, but Lee waited to receive it as he did not know that the FDA had approved it. The federal agency issued authorizations for Moderna’s, Pfizer-BioNTech’s or Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine use on an emergency basis. It could give that authorization for US medical goods to tackle a major public health issue, such as the epidemic, if the advantages exceed its risks.

The products that got the said authorization are expected to get full licensure from the agency after submitting documents proving safety follow-up procedures for six months. Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech have started to seek full approval from the agency for their coronavirus vaccines.

Describing himself as a strong person, Lee said that he planned on taking precautions such as wearing a mask instead of receiving the vaccine. Anyhow, the politician caught coronavirus disease. Perhaps that is why he plans on getting the vaccine in the near future.

Clark County’s Sheriff Joseph Lombardo would face Lee in next year’s Republican primary election, which is likely to soon include former Senator Dean Heller. Lombardo has already decided against running again for the County Sheriff’s position. On the other hand, Heller is yet to reply to the Associated Press’s messages about that gubernatorial race. Anyhow, Heller told Representative Mark Amodei that he is keen on running for that position. Politico reported that Dean Heller has already been discussing a run with Republican governors, party donors and leaders.

Steve Sisolak is the first-ever Democratic Party member to be the state’s governor in twenty years or so. So, there is no surprise that Sisolak is also competing for the position again.

Nevada is regarded as a battleground state, where the US Democratic Party has been trending over the last few years.
