Las Vegas’s Mayor, namely Carolyn Goodman, was fully vaccinated before she had coronavirus disease in July this year. When opening a recent city council conference, Carolyn stated that she experienced minor COVID-19 symptoms before her 10-day quarantine. Carolyn thanked Stavros Anthony because the latter acted as the temporary Mayor of Las Vegas.
Carolyn refused to comment more when the media asked her the reason for waiting to disclose the details of her coronavirus disease. Nevada reinstated an indoor coronavirus mask mandate in the recent past, but Carolyn often did not wear a mask during Las Vegas City’s council meeting.
The mayor got both dosages of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s vaccine, and she urged Las Vegas residents to have their vaccine shots. Carolyn stated that she perhaps inappropriately hugged and touched others and that she chooses to operate thus. When making the statement, Carolyn sounded unapologetic about her actions. Due to the new coronavirus regulations, Carolyn requested others to be vaccinated to aid in keeping everyone safe.
Last April, local officials condemned Carolyn for publicly requesting for nonessential businesses and casinos to be permitted to open again. The condemnation followed wide-scale closures in Nevada due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Carolyn also told during a CNN interview that there had been viruses in Las Vegas over the years. In the interview, she also implied that residents had become a control group to discover how the closure and restriction-related relaxations would impact Las Vegas and its inhabitants. For your information, the term control group refers to a way of ensuring that an experiment works, but Carolyn had used it in a slightly unusual context.
Carolyn also said that people would like to be part of the placebo group so that there could be something to use as a standard of comparison.
